We arrived in Panajachel, a town on Lake Atitlan, yesterday afternoon. We're staying with a couple, Mike and Adele, who have travelled pretty much everywhere (she's from South Africa, he's from the States) and have an incredible "kingdom house", as they call it. They run a coffee shop in town, have a daughter at Trinity Weatern in BC, and are basically the coolest. This morning Mike brought us all coffee IN BED and it was INCREDIBLE. They have such sweet, servant hearts, and it's such a blessing to be staying here in their gorgeous home (and by gorgeous I mean stone everywhere, insane gardens and stone pathways, the highest of ceilings and incredible log cabin-y walls and massive windows OH and a shower with WARM WATER whaaaaaa they also have three dogs so I'M PUMPED).

Within the past year, their bedroom was destroyed by a massive van-sized bolder that broke loose from the cliff above them, rolled down the mountain, and smashed through the retaining wall and into their bedroom WHILE THEY WERE SLEEPING IN THEIR BED. Their bed was thrust forward by the force and their bed frame split. BUT GUYS, THEY ARE TOTALLY FINE. Adele said, "It wasn't the Lord's time for us yet, so we're still here." HOW INCREDIBLE IS THAT.

Okay, let me tell you about Atitlan. Once upon a time, there was [believed to be] a massive super-volcano surrounded by three smaller volcanoes. The super-volcano erupted and collapsed in on itself, forming a massive lake enclosed by mountains and smaller volcanoes. IT IS STUNNING.

This morning in the baño, I found a 'Jesus Calling' book, open to a page that challenged me to seek God in his creation. These mountains and volcanoes and lakes were created so that we would be reminded of God's holiness when we look at them. Like really, how can I look at a massive volcano and NOT think about it's creator? I was struck by how relevant that seemingly random page was to my day.

So basically I'm loving this place and its beauty, and am feeling incredibly blessed to be here. 💕
